ah, so there's the weather... so now it's 105 degrees. i knew i lived in texas. i'm happy with the weather change, because it means i'll get a nice tan when i hike tomorrow morning and mow my lawn again tomorrow afternoon. and it's a dry heat. hooray for dry heat!!
sing it, sista! tonight, it's karaoke, which i haven't done in over a year, so wish me luck...
plans, plans... i have much to do, and i'm excited about having to do it. got this little hike to prepare for, and i'm so stoked about my trip that i can hardly stand it, which doesn't make for great productivity in any other facet of my life. but hooray for hiking, and hooray for the Grand Canyon!! have i mentioned that it's my favorite place in the entire world? have i mentioned that it's the love of my life? have i mentioned that i'm totally out of shape and have no idea how i'm gonna hike 28 miles in 2 days? have i mentioned that i love road-tripping across New Mexico and through the Painted Desert? hooray hooray hooray!! fun fun fun. ok, i'll stop my jumping up and down now.
these guys just showed up on my roof... 2 days ago a random roof guy came over and asked if he could give me an estimate, and i told him to talk to my landlord. he asked for my landlord's number, and i took his card and told him i'd pass it along... right after i got home yesterday, i heard walking on my roof and rattling; wha? so i went outside and saw a familiar business card stuck to my door and 2 men walking around on my roof. and why are you here? we're here to estimate your roof damage. my roof is fine, GET OFF MY HOUSE! i was nicer than that, but the message was the same.
nice coworkers... one of my coworkers called me this morning specifically to ask if i'm aware that my hero, Dave Matthews -- he didn't even need to finish his sentence before i told him that yes, i know Dave's a Bush-hata and supports the Johns. but they're the best rock concerts i've ever been to, and i fully intend on wearing either a Nuke the Moon t-shirt or this nice Hippies Smell one, or perhaps the Freedom World Tour shirt, since it'd fit well at a rock concert. it's the least i can do to support my beloved President.
When and where are you seeing DMB? Who is the opening act?
I ask 'cause my favorite band (Guster) is opening up for them at some point of the band's tour
-I know of one date in Atioch, TN and I wasn't sure if there were others.
Knock 'em dead tonight at Karaoke!

105 degrees huh? That's what we here in Phoenix call a cold snap!!
You've got to watch out for the "handymen" that come around offering to "fix things". It could be those guys you see on 20/20. The ones that marry their daughters off when they are 13 and they all travel around ripping off the trusting citizens of our country.
I haven't been to the Painted Desert in 30 years. I wonder if they've re-painted since then? Hmmmmmm. (I know, dumb.)

Jonag:
I was in the Painted Desert just a few weeks ago, and there were no "wet paint" signs out. Some of it looked a little faded though, and you know how congress loves to spend money on stuff like that, so I wouldn't rule it out.

yeah, even though i don't like him, I think I may get a KerryOkie shirt. It's like, someone from my home state actually did something clever! just makes me proud.

Whatever.
Good luck tonight. or at this point.. I hope you did as well as you wished! Now try out for American Idol already! I have been waiting for an excuse to watch that show!!!

You need to check my "Overrun by Spiders" comment" btw. I think I slipped a bad word in there and I would hate for Grandma to be scandalized! (Sorry, I curse like a sailor on my good days..... You don't even WANT to know about my bad days...)}

BTW, Been condidering it for a while(the make my own blog thing,) but most of what I would have is pictures from the cessna 172 and 152 that I have been flying in with Mark, and Cat and Dog pictures(some Stepson pictures that will not be shown because there are still infinite Freaks out there!) But I do have some beautiful mid-flight pictures from the 152 cessna.

Sarah,
Hiking 28 miles in two days won't be all that hard. You could do that in a day, if you tried. Of course, you wouldn't have much time to appreciate the view, but you could do it.
And before anybody mentions it, yes, I am aware that Sarah will be wearing a pack. If she wasn't wearing a pack, those 28 miles would be able to be done in one day, EASILY.
Just my experience from walking LONG distances. I have a pair of boots that has more miles on it than most cars. 100,000 and still counting.
Just don't think about how long it is, or how hard you THINK it will be, and you it will go well for you.
I wish I had some decent hiking venues up here. Of course, that would mean I would have to leave my house on the weekends...

Remember that marathon champions cover 26 miles in about 2 hours. So two days should be doable.

marathon champions train for months.
wow, did i never respond to any of these comments? am i becoming one of those bloggers who likes to read the comments but doesn't respond?
Laura, the Red West is opening at our show. i was hoping for the Graham Colton Band or Jason Mraz, but the dates didn't work.
maggie, don't do it! even if it's punny!
yes, LokiDoki, i'll be your blogmommy. but i don't have much time for nurturing right now, so you may have to latch-key it for a while. :)
jonag, the paint's kinda peeling, but it has that weathered-siding look, which is kinda cool.
