... or rather, just the opposite. the house i'm renting was vacant for 4 months before i moved in, so all the drains are slow from no... er, movement(s). sunday or monday night, the kitchen sink got stopped up, and all the drains in the house backed up into the bathtub. eventually, it all drained, and the bathtub even stopped leaking every time i ran the shower, yippee! no problems since then, except some slower-than-desirable drainage, but still everything seemed to be working better...
until today. i was so excited about using my brand-new washer (and having clean clothes to boot) and was even pleasantly surprised at how quietly it runs! i was on the couch; suddenly, my quiet washer was much louder, and i thought, wow! it's not so quiet after all. went into the kitchen (washer and dryer are in the CARPETED kitchen), and the drain for the washer was overflowing like mad. looooooovely. yes, i checked, and the drainage hose was where it needed to be...
so. everything backed up into the bathtub again. but the toilet still functions, right?
WRONG. had to go buy a plunger tonight, and the situation is so bad that even the plunger doesn't help.
oh. crappy. day.
Call the landlord and have her get hold of a drain snake or bring in RotoRooter. Sounds like you moved in recently, so the bad drains aren't your doing. Proper drains are a reasonable expectation and you are fully entitled to them as a renter. Good luck.

oh yeah, the landlord is sending out a plumber tomorrow (he's actually Pappy's business partner, and i've known him for a few years).
but that doesn't help me tonight (and i have to pee!), and tomorrow morning i get to drive to Bikermommy's to shower. eh, life will go on, and at least Serenity posted the link to the story about how chicks can pee standing up. there's always that if i get desperate.
