today was a long day that started yesterday around 2 p.m. (or 1400 hours, whatever).
we finally got away from Bedford about that time and trucked it to Amastinkinrillo. i drove the 15' rental, and Bikermommy followed me in the Splorer; we did take my walkie-talkies, so Bikermommy was able to backseat drive from a whole other automobile. every time i would ride the line or swerve or hit a tree or roll the truck, there was Bikermommy's sweet voice asking me if the wind was blowing really hard or something. oh, and every time the "reduced speed ahead" signs came, Bikermommy would say, "you need to drop down to 55" or "you have to be careful in this town, because they'll ticket you here". we drove by one or two State Troopers, and Bikey recognized them as someone who'd ticketed her before (not joking).
we made it around 8:12, so we missed the opening sequence of ALIAS, but Spidade caught me up later. the finale was pretty good, and Vaughn finally got to kill Larvin while kissing and protecting Sydney. yay!!
after ALIAS, we unloaded a lot of the furniture and boxes from the truck and Splorer; we did that till around midnight, then Bikey, Pappy & Tim (landlord) left, and i slept on the futon mattress in the livingroom floor. i tried to read blogs (i am seriously addicted and feel edgy when i don't get to read blogs), but the dialup connection through my cell phone was slower than slow, and i just couldn't take it. plus, all the lights were out, and the bugs in the house (open doors and windows all evening) were all attracted to the one light in the place, which was my computer screen; i even had this big fat green bug plant itself on the screen and decide that was his new home. *sigh*
Bikey was here around 8:30 or 9 this morning, ready to work, and is she a slave driver. we unloaded somewhere around 70 boxes today, by Bikey's estimation, but i can't imagine that i have that much stuff. we actually unloaded everything except the hideaway bed and the washing machine, and left those only because we were tired and hungry, and the guys had already said they'd move those in, so why in the world would we do it ourselves? and may i just say that i must be the best and most organized packer/mover on the planet; of course, i did learn a lot from Shelley last summer when she came and packed up a lot of my decorations with me -- my boxes are labeled impeccably, and everything is so easy to find! i even got nods from Pappy on the organized nature of all my junk. "for someone whose house is always a disaster, she really does a great job packing" or something like that. Bikey and i discussed the organized closet / tornadic living areas phenomenon; she thinks that i should either pretend that all the living areas are closets or cabinets so they'll stay clean, or i should just throw everything in closets, and i won't be able to stand the clutter, so it will all be clean and organized.
satellite company called and said some of the equipment didn't arrive, wah. so tomorrow is the day, we'll see... cable modem did get installed, and yay, no more dialup!
had to make a trip to Target (did you know the Target here is NOT a Supertarget??? and it's not open 24 hours!!), because all of my undies and socks and bras, etc., were packed into my little suitcase, and that suitcase is sitting in my apartment in Bedford. loooovely.
ok, boring story over. back to regular posting for a couple of days... i hope y'all missed me, i missed y'all.
so you've got your cable modem now? that means your all moved in doesn't it? everything else is just unimportant details. ;)

eek, well, i'll pray for you, SpaceMonkey! ;)
actually, jeffrey, everything else would be unimportant, except that my Dish doesn't have the locals yet, so i still have to use the VCR on the network shows. wah. other than that, life is grand. no, wait. i left the power cord for the wireless router in Bedford, so i'm stuck near the wall...

I'm envious of how well your move has gone! Somedays I think I should get out of Network Ops and become an R.N. or something else that is in high demand in smaller places than Jersey, Denver, Atlanta, L.A., San Fran. etc... :P
Hmmm. Make that Most days I think that! Ah well... congratulations on a mostly successful move youngun!
