Isaiah 40:28-31

Have you not known? Have you not heard?
The everlasting God, the LORD,
The Creator of the ends of the earth,
Neither faints nor is weary.
His understanding is unsearchable.
He gives power to the weak,
And to those who have no might He increases strength.
Even the youths shall faint and be weary,
And the young men shall utterly fall,
But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.

I love this passage from Isaiah.

40:31 is on a medallion that I've carried for 12 years (from a friend).

What the Lord taught me about this passage is that sometimes it's harder to walk and not faint than it is to mount up with wings as eagles.

I have a CD with this passage sung just beautifully. It really moves me when I hear it and I am reminded that when I committed my life to Christ, that God now sees me personally as one of his childeren, who is "waiting on the LORD". He has promised me that for my patient faith in him, that I will not be forgotten when he sends his Son back to the earth. He will "renew my strength" and "I will be lifted up like an eagle" and never again be plagued with the weakness of my mortality. God is truly great and worthy of all praise!!

kara, we used to sing "Teach Me Lord" at church camp & in youth group gatherings, i LOVE that song. it finally got put into the hymnals at a congregation i used to attend, but then i left there and the one i attend now has really old books, which are still great but don't have the newer songs. *sigh* oh well, worship isn't about me, it's about God.

That is sooo true!! I'm the hymnist (one of 3)for our Sunday School and Worship/Memorial Service, and I think the next time I hear someone gripe about the hymn choices, I will try to get that message across just as lovingly as I can. It is so easy to think that if we enjoy it that's all that matters, when we need to be asking, "Does it please my Heavenly Father?" We can and should love it too, but God is first!! What are the words to "Teach me Lord"? I'm wondering if it is the one I know. I hope that you post another Bible Passage of the Day soon. I like your blog, keep on keeping on with it!! I plan on visiting it often. : )

Kara, that is something that i think a lot of people forget. i don't know who added to the Isaiah verse the additional words for "Teach Me Lord". here they are...
