ok, i respect Gloria Estefan, i think she's a sweet person and very talented, but wow, i am beaten down by her music. so not only do i have to endure Jasmine in the unbelievable absence of Jennifer Hudson (wah!! why didn't i vote??), but i have to follow up listening to Barry Manilow's worst tunes (Mandy notwithstanding) by listening to Gloria Estefan's stuff. it's not her fault that i don't like her music, it was excruciatingly overplayed in the 80s & 90s. i do think it's cool that the Miami Sound Machine showed up, but i'm already annoyed by Gloria being a guest judge. "i'm going to leave the judging up to the judges, they do a great job" or something like that. um, Gloria, do you even WATCH the show?? Simon is the only judge worth his salt, even though he had an off week last week.
Fantasia 01 - oh no!! i agree with Randy Jackson, i can't believe it!! but all is not lost, i also agree with Simon, so he's back!! the dancing was great, i loved the outfit and her spunk. but i hate that song (not her fault, though she did pick it), and she really was unexciting, vocally. VOTE FOR HER ANYWAY, WE KNOW WHO NEEDS TO GO HOME!! PLEASE VOTE!! I PROMISE I WILL TOO!!
George 02 - please don't break my heart tonight, George. you're one of my favorites, but if you get lazy again, i'm going to lose patience. ok, there's my pep talk. go out there and get 'em... well, the personality is back, thank goodness. i hate this song, but i need to get over that or i won't like anyone tonight. oh wow, why would he pick such a boring song?? oh, George. no thanks. he actually tried harder, but it was no good. SHUT UP, AUDIENCE, SIMON IS RIGHT!! VOTE FOR HIM ANYWAY, but i won't say that next week if he disappoints me again. PLEASE BRING BACK THE OLD GEORGE!! PLEASE!!
Latoya 03 - love the dress, the dancing is great excellent. hate the song. well, at least she did something to add her own flavor, the first one tonight who actually did something other than what Gloria did on the recording, even if it was only barely... VOTE FOR HER PLEASE!! SHE NEEDS TO BE IN THE TOP TWO WITH FANTASIA!!
Jon 04 - well, at least he picked a song that was more an 'NSYNC song than a Gloria song, thank goodness. "ok, dawg, i wasn't feelin' you. it was [airplane hands] somewhat pitchy." or shall i say it like Paula. "whatever Randy said." or like Gloria. "i'm going to say something completely off-topic to avoid saying that i didn't like it." i actually -- shocker -- agreed with Simon here... he gave a good effort, it's not his fault that people love him and ex-contestants should suck it up (hmm, was that a backhanded shot at Jennifer?), Latin music is not his thing. the funny thing about that, Simon, is that this was not a Latin song, which is the only reason i could stomach it on such a horrendous night, this was a movie soundtrack pop song. I DON'T CARE IF YOU VOTE FOR HIM OR NOT, HE'S NOT THE ONE I'M WORRIED ABOUT STAYING.
Jasmine [number withheld] - i think i've figured out why i'm in awe of the fact that she made it to the final 12: her stage presence is awful, she sings to the audience as if she's talking down to us (we're not all musical morons), i don't like her voice, i don't like the way she dresses. RANDY, IT WASN'T "VERY" PITCHY, IT WAS PITCHY ONCE, MAYBE TWICE. Simon, thank you, exactly what i thought! i would expect to hear that on an elevator, or in the racquetball club dressing room (THAT'S where they overplayed her music!). anyway, i'm soooo ready to not see her cut off parachute pants anymore.
Diana 06 - she was really great tonight, and i didn't hate the song! i loved the dress, and she was having a great time. i'm very impressed, she might be my pick for the third player in the top 3. lately she has bored me, but if it comes down to it, she's bringin' it, and George is not...
here's my adjusted bidding for how the competition should pan out week to week, go and do it... i will adjust again next week.
Jasmine - 6th place
Jon - 5th
George - right now he stands at 4th...
Diana - 3rd
Fantasia - 2nd
Latoya - 1st
Oy. I can't even watch this show but today I caught a little bit of it cause someone in my office had it on.
Is it just me, or does every Gloria Estefan song sound the same? No matter who is singing it?

it is not just you, every song is brutally the same.

I actually thought Diana's performance was the best of the bunch last night, and I liked the dress too. I will say I missed the first 2 perform, but of the highlight clips I saw, it was, in the "word" of Randy Jackson, a'ight. As for Gloria, I did like some of her music too. Okay, I liked more than some of it, but it did get overplayed, and I think it was better earlier on when more of the MSM influence could be heard. I love Latin/Spanish music, and liked the idea of MSM there to play, just ashame that much of the night was a huge letdown.

yeah, diana probably was the best last night. i couldn't get out of last night's hour of torture quickly enough; Gloria Estefan music just makes me cringe.
last night was awful.
